The Shelter Advocate is responsible providing advocacy, information, referrals and related services to victims of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, and human sex trafficking.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Willing and able to lift, push, kneel, bend, reach overhead, and pull/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Willing able to work midnight to 8 am shift
General Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Education or related field
- Must be certified to perform and score danger assessments or obtain certification within 90 days of hire
- Must be certified to perform and score an Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment within 90 days of hire
- Must become a certified Victim of Crime Advocate within 120 days of hire
- Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified or within 90 days of hire
- Familiarity with family violence, sexual assault and/or human sex trafficking issues
- Must be able to deal with potentially hostile and/or uncooperative individuals
- Must be able to handle stress
- Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
- Must maintain confidential information regarding shelter guests and crisis callers
- Requires a high level of problem solving skills
- Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
- Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
