Family Violence Shelter Manager

The Family Violence Shelter Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation, safety, and administration of the Family Violence Prevention Program emergency shelter. This position provides direct supervision of shelter staff, oversees shelter operations, ensures trauma-informed and culturally responsive services are delivered to survivors and their children, coordinates emergency shelter services, maintains compliance with grant and regulatory requirements, and assists the Director with program planning, policy development, quality improvement, and reporting.

The Family Violence Shelter Manager serves as the primary operational leader for the shelter and works collaboratively with community partners to ensure survivors receive comprehensive, confidential, and victim-centered services.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in behavioral health, Social Work, Education or related field or two years’ experience in domestic violence and/or mental health related field may substitute for degree requirement
• Prior supervisory experience
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Willing and able to be to be on call 24/7
• Willing and able to lift, push, kneel, bend, reach overhead, and pull/carry up to 30 lbs.

General Qualifications

• Must be certified to perform and score Danger Assessments and Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessments or obtain certifications within 90 days of hire
• Must be familiar with family violence, sexual assault and/or human sex trafficking issues
• Must be able to deal with potentially hostile and/or uncooperative individuals
• Must have project management/problem solving skills
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Must maintain client confidentiality at all times and be HIPPA/Privacy Act trained
• Must become CPR certified
• Willing and able to learn Indigenous Craftsmanship (Beading, sewing, etc.) 
• Requires a high level of technical writing skills
• Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
• Must be able to pass a criminal background and drug/alcohol screening
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
