What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Decor and Display Specialist position at Oregon Garden Resort?
We’re hiring an Event Décor & Display Specialist to execute and maintain the visual experience across the Silverton Christmas Market and surrounding resort spaces.
This role is responsible for the final look and feel of the event, from decorating the lodge and vendor booths to refining displays and ensuring every space is visually cohesive and guest-ready.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) from September through January, and averages approximately 24 hours/week the rest of the year.
This is a hands-on role focused on decorating, styling, and finishing details—not just planning or concept work.
What You’ll Do
- Execute décor setup across the lodge, retail booths, vendor spaces, and event areas
- Apply finishing touches that elevate the overall look and guest experience
- Ensure consistency across all spaces, maintaining a cohesive theme and visual standard
- Adjust, refine, and rework décor as needed to achieve the right final presentation
- Install and arrange lighting, signage, props, and decorative elements
- Perform decorative and standard painting, including touch-ups and surface prep
- Maintain and refresh décor throughout the event season
- Troubleshoot and fix visual or décor-related issues
- Support setup and teardown of event spaces
- Organize, maintain, and store décor inventory
- Track materials and supplies while staying within established budgets
Off-Season Focus (Approx. 24 hrs/week):
- Repair, refresh, and organize décor inventory
- Prepare materials and décor elements for the upcoming season
- Assist with planning and improvements for future displays
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in décor, visual merchandising, event styling, or similar hands-on work
- Strong eye for detail and ability to recognize when a space is “finished” and guest-ready
- Ability to follow a theme and maintain consistency across multiple spaces
- Comfortable working hands-on with décor, materials, and light installation work
- Self-directed and able to make adjustments without constant oversight
- Organized with strong follow-through, especially under deadlines
- Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and peak event season (Sept–Jan)
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Stand and work on your feet for extended periods
- Comfortable using ladders and handling décor installation
Why This Role
- Year-round position with a predictable seasonal ramp-up
- Direct impact on a large-scale, high-visibility event
- Opportunity to shape and refine the guest experience through visual detail
- Hands-on, creative work with visible results
