Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Solid Waste Division oversees the contract for curbside collection of garbage, yard waste, and recyclable materials for over 230,000 residential homes in Orange County, and the operation and maintenance of the Orange County Landfill, two transfer stations, and recycling processing operations. The landfill is the largest publicly owned and operated landfill in the state of Florida.

The Solid Waste Division is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of "Customer Service Field Representative". This position is responsible for performing field work reviewing, resolving, and submitting reports on customer issues and contract/franchise hauler operations. Assistance on the Recycling Quality Improvement Program.

Job Description

General Functions:

Depending on area of assignment, this key position performs field work by contacting customers in the field to respond to inquiries and completing routine work orders, or by reviewing, resolving and submitting reports on customer issues and contract/franchise hauler operations.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Utilities Account Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports, and results achieved.

Representative Duties/Assignments:

  • This role will be working outside in the field all day, every day. It requires extensive driving, walking and picking up trash.**
  • Provides information on and interpretation of County ordinances and policies to resolve customer and contractor Solid Waste service issues.
  • Answering hotline calls and resolving customer/franchise hauler complaints
  • Reading and understanding (GPS) maps to conduct field investigations
  • Creates spreadsheets, graphics and other statistical reports
  • Inspects residential recycle carts and provide a tag with necessary feedback
  • Inspects and records data of all recycling loads delivered to McLeod Transfer Station and or MRF (Material Recovery Facility)
  • Investigates and resolves customer service inquiries concerning recycling, garbage, yard waste and commercial recycling
  • Prepares memos, letters and reports for internal and external customers
  • Participates in community education and outreach events
  • Maintaining daily database records
  • Manages multiple projects effectively
  • Works independently
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent, with three (3) years' public contact experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license.

Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Must possess oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with staff and the public to explain County and Department policy and procedure.

Preferences

Experience using Microsoft Office

Ability to type at a rate of 20 correct words per minute

Salary Information

Pay Grade: 011 - From $19.00 to $24.12
