Our client, a leading specialty petrochemical company, is seeking an Asphalt Scientist to support research, product development, and laboratory testing activities within its technical center. This role focuses on evaluating and improving asphalt binders and emulsions, supporting product innovation, and assisting with troubleshooting and customer-related technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced laboratory testing of asphalt binders and emulsions
- Support research and development efforts to improve existing products and develop new formulations
- Translate customer needs into product solutions and assist with trial production of new products
- Conduct experiments, analyze data, and document research findings clearly
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory testing equipment, including asphalt emulsion lab mills
- Participate in industry accreditation programs and stay current on emerging asphalt technologies
- Collaborate with internal teams and support terminal operations when needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related field OR significant hands-on asphalt lab testing experience
- Experience with asphalt binders, emulsions, or related materials testing
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
- Proficiency with standard lab equipment and Microsoft Office tools
- Asphalt binder and/or emulsion technician certifications preferred
