What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Analyst position at Oliver James?
Oliver James is currently working with a rapidly growing insurance firm that has been expanding aggressively through acquisitions and continued business growth. They're building out their tax function and looking to bring on a Senior Tax Analyst to support a highly visible, multi-entity environment.
This is a strong opportunity for someone coming out of public accounting or already in industry who wants broader exposure across tax types, involvement in strategic initiatives, and the ability to grow within a scaling organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review a variety of tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Support multi-state tax compliance including income, partnership, and indirect taxes
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related reporting
- Build and maintain tax forecasts and analytical models to support planning and decision-making
- Partner with internal accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate tax reporting
- Respond to tax notices and support audits and regulatory inquiries
- Conduct research on evolving tax laws and help implement process improvements
- Work closely with external advisors to support filings and special projects
- Support M&A activity, including integration and alignment of tax processes across entities
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of tax experience (public accounting and/or industry)
- Exposure to multiple tax types including federal, state & local, partnership, or indirect taxes
- Experience with tax provision and financial reporting is a plus
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set
