Senior Accountant – Insurance

Oliver James is partnered with a growing insurance organization looking to hire a Senior Accountant within their finance team.

This role will focus on US GAAP reporting, reinsurance accounting, financial close, and analysis of insurance portfolios. The position offers exposure to complex accounting transactions and cross-functional partnership across finance teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with financial reporting, and an interest in building expertise within insurance/reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own accounting and reporting activities for assigned insurance portfolios
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare US GAAP financial reporting and analysis
• Perform variance analysis and provide financial insights
• Support accounting for reinsurance transactions and business initiatives
• Partner with internal teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
• Maintain financial controls and accurate accounting records
• Support technical accounting projects and ad hoc analysis
• Assist with mentoring junior team members
  
  

Ideal Background

• 4 years of accounting experience within insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or public accounting
• Strong US GAAP and financial reporting experience
• Experience with month-end close, financial statements, and accounting analysis
• Exposure to insurance/reinsurance accounting preferred
• CPA or CPA track preferred
• Strong Excel and financial systems experience
• Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings effectively
