Position Summary
Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for an experienced Benefits Manager to join the Firm’s Human Resources department. The Benefits Manager leads the firm-wide administration of Ogletree’s employee benefits programs, including 401(k) and profit-sharing plans, health, dental, and vision coverage, disability, flexible spending and HSA/FSA accounts, and other voluntary or regulatory benefits. This role serves as the escalation point for complex issues, oversees vendor relationships, drives benefits-related projects, and ensures effective communication and compliance.

The Benefits Manager leads the firm-wide administration of Ogletree’s employee benefits programs, including 401(k) and profit-sharing plans, health, dental, and vision coverage, disability, flexible spending and HSA/FSA accounts, and other voluntary or regulatory benefits. This role serves as the escalation point for complex issues, oversees vendor relationships, drives benefits-related projects, and ensures effective communication and compliance.
Essential Functions
- Manage day-to-day administration of health, welfare, retirement, and ancillary benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, FSA/HSA, EAP, and voluntary programs.
- Oversee annual Open Enrollment processes, timelines, communications, and system updates.
- Monitor vendor performance and escalate issues as needed; work with carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve complex employee inquiries.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits data, including enrollments, terminations, changes, and payroll integrations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and state-specific leave laws.
- Develop and deliver clear benefits communications, education sessions, and resources to enhance employee understanding and engagement.
- Identify opportunities to improve benefits processes, streamline workflows, and enhance the employee experience.
- Prepare and analyze benefits data, reporting trends, utilization, and costs to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead benefits projects such as plan redesign, vendor transitions, and new technology implementations.
- Back up and support all other benefit program administration as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- 8 years of experience in Benefits Administration.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
- Experience at a large multi-state employer.
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, 401(k) plan administration, and compliance requirements.
- Strong customer/employee service and vendor relations skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and resilient.
- Collaborative team player with a commitment to supporting shared goals and outcomes.
- Prior experience in a professional services industry.
- Experience administering benefits internationally.
