The duties and responsibilities for an Utility Systems Repairer Operator, WG-4742-11 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Installs and repairs air condition systems to provide exact temperature levels in special conditions.
- Identify the cause of faulty air conditioning equipment and provide repairs, modifications and relocates equipment on various special-purpose air conditioning units and systems.
- Operates utility systems of extremely large capacity and flexibility.
- Troubleshoots unusual malfunctions on advanced equipment and systems.
- Serves as "operator in charge" of utility systems operations.
- Maintains, operates, and repairs boilers or emergency electrical generators.
Conditions of employment
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

- Use of Measuring instruments such as gauges, meters, records;
- Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation, Repair, such as installing and/or repairing air conditioning systems, ductwork to direct heat and/or exhaust outside of test chamber or refrigeration unit;
- Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.;
- Technical Practices, such as experience examining air conditioning system to troubleshoot faulty equipment, for example compressors, reciprocating, centrifugal or rotary pump;
- Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, such as providing information to inquiries from other workers regarding procedures,
- Knowledge of Materials, such as observing, inspecting and performing tests, measures, key temperatures.
