This position is with the Justice Management Division, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff (FASS), Justice Building Services Staff. The Justice Buildings Services is responsible for performing functions with respect to the operations, maintenance, repair, preservation, alteration, furnishing, equipment and custody of the Robert F. Kennedy, Main Justice Building (RFK).
Qualifications: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
1) Ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repairer Operator without more than normal supervision;
2) Use of Measuring instruments such as gauges, meters, records;
3) Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation, Repair, such as installing and/or repairing air conditioning systems, ductwork to direct heat and/or exhaust outside of test chamber or refrigeration unit;
4) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.;
5) Technical Practices, such as experience examining air conditioning system to troubleshoot faulty equipment, for example compressors, reciprocating, centrifugal or rotary pump;
6) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, such as providing information to inquiries from other workers regarding procedures,
7) Knowledge of Materials, such as observing, inspecting and performing tests, measures, key temperatures.
