Job Summary:
The Day Support Program Staff at Odyssey Services Corp EPIC DTA provides assistance and support to individuals with disabilities within a day program setting. They work under the supervision of a program supervisor to ensure the well-being, safety, and engagement of program participants. This role involves implementing individualized care plans, facilitating activities, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Client Support: Provide direct assistance and support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Activity Planning: Assist in planning and organizing daily activities and programs that cater to the interests and abilities of program participants.
- Instruction and Guidance: Offer guidance and instruction to participants in developing life skills, social skills, and independence.
- Behavior Management: Implement behavior management strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive interactions among participants.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, activities, and any incidents or concerns, following organizational guidelines and protocols.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with program coordinators, fellow staff members, and participants' families or caregivers to provide updates, exchange information, and address any issues or concerns.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants by adhering to safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other staff members and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, share insights, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the program.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and interests of individuals with disabilities, promoting inclusion, dignity, and respect in all interactions and activities.
- Drive: Drive company van on established route to pick up or drop off members at the beginning or end of day.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or training)
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and environments
- Basic knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, safety guidelines)
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Article 9 Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and assist individuals with mobility limitations
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods
- Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules and program needs
Schedule
- Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (Driving 3pm-4pm)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
