What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pest Control Technician position at Oceanside Unified School District?
The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. There is currently ONE position open in the Grounds Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of activities involved in the application of chemicals, herbicides, insecticides, and various pesticides to eradicate and control the spread of weeds, insects, rodents, and other pests. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years grounds maintenance experience involving pest control activities. Licenses Possession of a valid California driver's license. Possession of a State of California Department of Pesticide Regulation Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC). ***Must be obtained within 6 months*** Knowledge of Methods, materials, and equipment used in the eradication and control of weeds, insects, rodents, and other pests. Safe and proper use of chemicals, herbicides, insecticides, and various pesticides used in pest control. Laws, regulations, requirements, and procedures applicable to pest control. Operation of hand and power tools and equipment used in pest control. Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios. Basic record-keeping and report preparation skills. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
