Duties

  • Carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program (FAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs.
  • Identifies program resource requirements and develops/manages the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) budget.
  • Establishes Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with local civilian agencies and Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs).
  • Establishes local policies and metrics to assess the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of FAP services.
  • Advisor to the Garrison and Installation Commander on family abuse and domestic violence issues.
  • Provides mandatory training for Unit/Battalion Commanders and NCOs on identifying potential issues within statutory limits.
  • Designs and implements post-wide prevention and education campaigns to reduce family violence.
  • Publicizes reporting procedures and resource availability to the military community.
  • Directly supervises a professional staff, assigning work, setting performance standards, counseling employees, and writing performance appraisals.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • IAW DoDI 6400.05, a current valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently is required (LCSW or LICSW). Incumbent will be required to obtain licensure within three years of appointment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Basic Requirement For Social Worker (Family Advocacy Program):

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In Addition To Meeting The Basic Requirement Above, To Qualify For This Position You Must Also Meet The Qualification Requirements Listed Below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing family advocacy or social services programs by assessing community needs, identifying trends, and/or developing prevention policies. 2) Coordinating child or spouse maltreatment cases across multiple jurisdictions in collaboration with medical, legal, law enforcement, and child protective services. 3) Advising on family abuse issues through briefings and trainings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
