Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including private homes, assisted living communities, group homes, and nursing facilities. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and promote independence while ensuring safety and comfort. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Administer medication following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas, laundry, and organizing supplies.
- Support patients during outings or community activities to promote social engagement and independence.
- Document care provided, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with team members about patient progress or concerns.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or group homes is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and understanding of HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Hands-on experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to deliver personalized support.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in hospice care or memory care is a plus.
