EHS Specialist
Location: Lafayette, IN
Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety programs within manufacturing and laboratory operations. The role will ensure OSHA/regulatory compliance, conduct safety inspections, provide employee training, support incident investigations, and drive continuous EHS improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor EHS programs and compliance initiatives.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, Gemba walks, and follow-up actions.
- Deliver EHS training, including new-hire orientation and forklift/crane training.
- Complete JSAs, PPE assessments, and incident investigations.
- Maintain chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Support laboratory Chemical Hygiene Plans and flammable/hazardous chemical programs.
- Track EHS metrics, investigations, trends, and corrective actions.
- Partner with operations and engineering teams to resolve safety issues.
- Interpret OSHA and other applicable regulations and implement requirements.
- Manage multiple EHS projects with limited supervision.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 5 years of EHS/Safety experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong OSHA, safety compliance, chemical safety, and regulatory knowledge.
- Experience with training, incident investigations, audits, and reporting.
- Knowledge of hydrogen/flammable chemicals preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
