We have a larger non-profit in the San Jose area seeking a strong People Ops Generalist to start ASAP!
Candidate must have the following skills:
- Paycom (or strong HRIS admin)
- Benefits & California LOA admin
- Payroll collaboration
- Ability to be onsite in the San Jose office 3-days a week without issue (schedule onsite will be 8-5pm)
- Open to temporary work
Pay is max at $40/hr
Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary administrator for the HRIS system (Paycom), ensuring accuracy and troubleshooting issues for employees.
- Support administering and maintaining benefits programs, including enrollment, open enrollment, and responding to employee inquiries.
- Oversee the employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and coordinating Day 1 orientation for new hires.
- Develop and deliver reports to track key HR metrics and ensure compliance with government regulations, including EEOC reporting.
- Ensure seamless integration between HRIS and payroll, collaborating closely with Finance to maintain accuracy.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Coordinate benefit enrollment for new and existing employees, including annual open enrollment.
- Address employee inquiries regarding benefits and resolve any discrepancies with providers.
- Support administering and monitoring leaves of absence, and unemployment insurance.
HR Compliance & Reporting
- Work at the direction of the People Operations Manager to help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including providing reports to meet Feeding America’s and other audit requirements.
- Support performance and compensation management processes, including implementing periodic changes and updates in the HRIS system.
- Serve as the backup Designated Employer Representative (DER) for DOT compliance and screening requirements.
Employee Engagement & Lifecycle Management
- Regularly update and maintain the HR intranet site, enabling employees and managers to use self-service tools effectively.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to continuously improve processes such as onboarding, employee training, and performance management.
- Post job ads on internal and external boards, supporting the development of an attractive recruitment website with marketing.
- Guide managers through the hiring process, including sourcing and recruiting candidates when needed.
The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:
- At least 4 years’ experience in HR or working knowledge of basic HR functions, including benefits administration, leaves of absence, HR systems, Talent Acquisition, HR metrics and employment law (particularly wage and hour)
- Experience implementing HR policies and practices from a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion perspective strongly preferred
- Experience administering workers compensation and leaves of absences and responding to unemployment claims
- Experience administering or collaborating closely with payroll strongly desired
- Knowledge of laws pertaining to leaves of absences, worker’s compensation processes, wage and hour and CA employer compliance
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.
