What are the responsibilities and job description for the Alcohol and Drug Counselor position at Northwest Family Services?
This position provides evidence-based assessments as well as individual and group SUD treatment, case management, and recovery support in an intensive outpatient setting.
Primary Responsibilities
· Collaborate with local community partners, including the Clackamas County Family Treatment Court, Oregon Department of Human Services, and the Oregon Justice Department.
· Engage clients in the treatment process. This includes but is not limited to informing clients about elements of the process.
· Conduct ASAM assessments to establish appropriate levels of care. Refer to a higher level of care if needed.
· Provide IOP/OP SUD services for adults, including participants with DHS-involvement and DUII diversion.
· Provide direct client substance use treatment utilizing program principles, guidelines, and policies, including treatment planning, individual sessions, and group facilitation in an outpatient treatment setting.
· Consistently maintain accurate, professional and up-to-date documentation in accordance the Oregon OARs.
· Regularly coordinate care with internal and external referents via status reports, in-person, phone, and/or email.
Education / Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
· At a minimum have a current, unencumbered CADC I or obtain the certification within six months of taking the position.
· A minimum of two years of experience providing case management, chemical dependency treatment, referrals, assessments, and/or advocacy services.
· Have a thorough understanding of ASAM PPC LOC and DSM 5 diagnostic criteria.
· Experience working with community partners as well as a working understanding of social service agencies.
