Job Description
The Kitchen Expediter is responsible for organizing and coordinating all kitchen tickets to ensure food is prepared accurately, completely, and in a timely manner before leaving the kitchen. This position acts as the communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house team, maintaining quality standards and smooth service flow.
Primary Responsibilities
- Organize and prioritize incoming food tickets during service.
- Communicate clearly with chefs, line cooks, and food runners regarding ticket timing and table needs.
- Ensure every dish matches the complete ticket order before leaving the kitchen.
- Verify plate presentation, temperatures, garnishes, modifications, and side items.
- Confirm all components of an order are complete and ready to be served together.
- Coordinate timing between stations to maintain smooth and efficient service.
- Hand completed orders to food runners with accurate table numbers and seat positions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expo line and service area.
- Alert management or chefs to delays, missing items, or quality concerns immediately.
- Assist with restocking plates, garnishes, sauces, and expo supplies as needed.
