What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time 1:1 Teaching Assistant position at North River Collaborative?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.High School Diploma or equivalent
2.Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder.
V.LENGTH OF POSITION:11 months plus six week summer program
VI.REPORTS TO: Learning Center Program Coordinator
VII.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.INSTRUCTIONAL
1.Work with the individual student to reinforce learning of materials or skills.
2.Implement behavior management programs for the individual student.
3.Helps to maintain classroom environment to facilitate learning experiences for the student.
4.Works under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
B.SUPERVISION AND TRAINING
1.Accept and follow through on constructive criticism made by supervisor(s).
2.Attend and participate in in-service training programs and staff development meetings as directed.
3.Learn specific teaching strategies or skills for instructing the individual student when necessary.
C.DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION
1.Assist staff in maintaining student attendance records and other data as needed.
2.Abide by program hours and other policies as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook.
D., HEALTH AND SAFETY
1.Can physically lift up to 50 pounds and assist in lifting over 100 pounds and assist
students in all daily activities. This will require the ability to physically lift a student or assist in lifting and physically accompany a student during activities such as toileting, personal hygiene and self-care tasks.
2.Can physically lift or assist in lifting students into adaptive/therapy
equipment when appropriate.
3.Is able to physically assist students during fire drills or actual emergency situations.
4.Respond to the needs of individual students so as to enhance their self- esteem and personal development.
5.With training, is able to apply de-escalation strategies if necessary to prevent a student from harming him/herself or others.

F.OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Salary : $20 - $24
