Job Summary
The Orientation and Mobility Instructor for the Vision Services Program plays a vital role in supporting individuals with visual impairments by teaching safe and effective travel skills. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor. 2. Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree. 2. Three years experience in working with students with visual impairments. 3. Excellent communication skills.4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the NRC Board of Directors may find appropriate and acceptable. LENGTH OF POSITION: School Year with Summer work optional.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Functional Travel Assessments 2. Consultation to staff and parent/guardian 3. Travel Instruction in school and community settings 4. Instruction in pre-cane, cane, and/or sighted guide techniques 5. Compensatory skill development e.g. low vision aids, use of other senses, spatial relationships 6. Life skills training, e.g. daily living skills, social interaction skills, recreation and leisure
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $39.89 - $82.49 per hour
