Position Overview
The Banquet Captain is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering exceptional member and guest experiences across all banquet events. Serving as a direct extension of the Banquet Manager—especially when the manager is not on site—this position ensures events run smoothly, efficiently, and to standard from start to finish.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, proactive leader who anticipates needs, solves problems in real time, and keeps the team aligned through clear communication and confident decision-making. This role is designed to support seamless day-to-day execution by taking ownership of event flow, preparing the team for what comes next, and stepping in wherever needed to ensure success.
Responsibilities
- Acts as an extension of the Banquet Manager; leads the event floor with confidence and ownership.
- Owns execution from setup through breakdown; ensures alignment with BEO and Run of Show.
- Directs banquet staff; assigns sections, controls pace, and adjusts in real time.
- Thinks ahead continuously; anticipates next steps and prepares the team.
- Leads through proactive problem solving.
- Serves as the primary on-floor contact for hosts and members.
- Executes and enforces service standards.
- Coordinates with culinary and bar teams to ensure smooth event execution.
- Maintains full awareness of room setup, timing, and service flow.
- Leads pre-shift communication and keeps the team informed throughout events.
- Coaches and develops staff through feedback, support, and leading by example.
- Steps into service roles when needed to support the team and event success.
- Handles guest and service concerns professionally and promptly.
Required:
- Experience in banquet service, hospitality, or event operations.
- Leadership experience with the ability to guide teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- A proactive, coachable mindset with a commitment to team development and growth.
- Availability to work nights and weekends.
