Job Description:
The North Middlesex School District is seeking an Assistant Middle School Cross Country Coach to support the head coach in developing the cross country program for students in grades 5–8. This coach will play a crucial role in helping athletes develop basic running skills, improve endurance, and foster a positive attitude toward fitness and sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with Practice & Skill Development:
Support the Head Coach in planning and running daily practices focused on building endurance, running technique, and fitness.
Work with individual athletes to provide personalized guidance and encouragement in their development.
Team Support & Engagement:
Foster a supportive and inclusive team atmosphere where all athletes feel valued.
Help build team spirit and assist with organizing team events and activities.
Meets and Competitions:
Assist with preparing athletes for meets, including transportation, lineup management, and warm-ups.
Help supervise and support athletes during competitions, ensuring safety and sportsmanship.
Safety & Supervision:
Ensure athletes follow proper warm-up, cool-down, and injury prevention routines.
Assist the Head Coach in supervising athletes during practices, meets, and events.
Follow all safety protocols to ensure the health and well-being of athletes.
Collaboration & Communication:
Communicate regularly with the Head Coach, parents, and school staff regarding athlete progress and program events.
Work together with the Head Coach to ensure effective team management and program success.
Compliance:
Follow all North Middlesex School District and school policies.
Maintain required coaching certifications:
Concussion Training (NFHS or CDC-approved)
First Aid & CPR Certification
CORI/SORI Background Check
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for coaching and supporting middle school student-athletes.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to encourage athletes of varying abilities in a supportive and positive manner.
Must meet all district coaching requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in coaching or running cross country.
Experience working with middle school-aged children.
Knowledge of basic cross country techniques, rules, and safety protocols.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Coach Stipend Schedule.
