JOB PURPOSE
At North Kent Connect, we believe in neighbors helping neighbors thrive. The Food Rescue Coordinator plays a key role in that mission by ensuring good food doesn’t go to waste, but instead reaches tables, families, and individuals who need it most. The Food Rescue Coordinator manages the collection, organization, and distribution of donated food from local partners. This role blends logistics, relationship-building, and heart, helping turn surplus into support for our community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate daily/weekly food rescue pickups from grocery stores, farms, and partners.
- Sort, inspect, and organize donated food to ensure quality and safety.
- Oversee proper storage, rotation, and distribution of rescued food.
- Track pounds of food rescued, donors, and distribution outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with food donors and community partners.
- Identify new food rescue opportunities within northern Kent County.
- Collaborate with food rescue partner organizations, communicate effectively, and problemsolve when necessary.
- Coordinate transportation, routes, and schedules for food pickups.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and handling guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage and distribution areas.
- Assist with reporting and program evaluation.
- Communicate regularly with internal teams to align with pantry and program needs.
- Work collaboratively with the food programs team to ensure adequate food inventory, supply storage, and organization.
- Support other NKC food programs as needed, especially during highdemand seasons.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma.
- Fluent in Spanish preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing.
- Must be able to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, push, pull, lift above the head, and lift 50 pounds.
- Comfortable operating a sprinter van, box truck, hilo, and pallet jacks.
- Proven ability to take initiative, prioritize, and work independently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook email system.
- Ability to form and establish positive partnerships in the community.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
