| About the Department | The soil management is a new extension and research program in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University. The program is located at Vernon G James Center, Tidewater Research Station, Plymouth, NC. The primary focus is soil health, soil organic matter, and saltwater intrusion-related issues. Soil impacts and spatial technologies for major field crops are within the scope of this program. As cropping systems change, new spatial technologies will require applied research and extension to ensure the best soil management and fertilizer recommendations for optimal yields and economic return while safeguarding soil health and soil organic matter. Additionally, saltwater intrusion and storm effects on soil productivity and fertility are and will be an increasingly important part of this position. |

| Essential Job Duties | We are seeking two independent and motivated Research Technicians to support our extension and research program through both field and laboratory work. In this role, you will contribute to the scientific perspective of our efforts, assist with data collection and analysis, and maintain research tools and equipment. The position involves operating heavy field equipment, performing maintenance tasks, and participating in outdoor fieldwork. Safety, accuracy, and scientific rigor are essential.
