Norfolk Public SchoolsNorfolk, MassachusettsTitle: Temporary Summer CustodianSchedule: 5 hrs/day M-F -- 25 hrs/week July 1, 2026 August 21, 2026Job Summary: To provide staff, public, and volunteers with a safe, attractive, clean, comfortable, and efficient workplace to work, learn, and meet.Qualifications: High School or Trade School DiplomaDemonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilitiesSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptableEmployment is contingent on satisfactory background checks.Essential Duties (Not Limited To): Cleans ALL school buildings as assigned by the Facilities Director or Deputy Facilities DirectorChecks door locking mechanisms for proper operation and to ensure the security of the buildingsPromptly reports major repairs/damage to either the Facilities Director and/or the Deputy Facilities DirectorPromptly reports concerns or malfunctions to the Facilities Director or Deputy Facilities DirectorParticipates in regular training as directed by the Facilities DirectorPerforms assigned tasks from work orders and documents the status of the assignmentsPerforms event setup/breakdownMoves furniture and/or equipment as required by the Facilities Director or Deputy Facilities DirectorComplies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, chemicals, wastePerforms other tasks as required by the Facilities Director or Deputy Facilities Director Physical Job Requirements: Considerable physical activity. Requires medium to heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to 150 pounds with assistance from co-workersStanding for long periods of timeAbility to work comfortably from a ladderMust be able to complete tasks that may require bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancingThe work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautionsSalary: $20.00/hour
