What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Custodian (4) position at Walpole Public Schools?
Walpole Public Schools is seeking four (4) temporary custodians to restore the cleanliness of school buildings during the summer months. Start date is June 22, 2026 through August 21, 2026, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm.
Job Description and Requirements:
- Annual floor stripping and refinishing of all tiled floors, carpet cleaning of all building rugs, complete cleaning of all classroom furniture, repair and/or replacement of dry erase boards and related equipment, replacement of drinking fountain filters, restorative cleaning of toilets, urinals, showers, and walls
- Washing, scouring, polishing, and similar work of a custodial nature in areas that cannot be addressed during the school year
- Operating power-driven floor sweepers, scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and waxing machines.
- Removal of all classroom and office furniture to facilitate deep cleaning in these spaces
- Removal of year-end trash and summer cleaning debris
- Cleanup of school property, playgrounds, and recreational areas
- Receipt and distribution of Summer supply orders to individual classrooms
Qualifications:
- Preferred applicants possess a High School Diploma/GED and are 18 years of age or older
- This position is physically demanding and requires that an individual have the physical ability to meet the requirements of the job, which includes reaching with hands and arms, lifting and carrying a minimum of 25 lbs., climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and extensive walking.
