Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse
Shift - Monday through Friday, 8-5
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Oncology Infusion Nurse to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing specialized infusion therapy to oncology patients in a compassionate and efficient manner. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems along with proficiency in IV infusion, medication administration, and aseptic technique, is essential. The Oncology Infusion Nurse will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Duties
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other infusion therapies following established protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess responses to treatment, managing acute pain or adverse reactions as needed.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication side effects, and post-infusion care instructions.
- Maintain sterile technique during IV insertions, catheter care, and specimen collection.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems.
- Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed during all procedures.
- Assist with triage assessments for urgent oncology-related concerns.
- Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care coordination for outpatient oncology patients.
Qualifications
- Current RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications required
- ONS/ANCC Certificationrequired
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to oncology treatments, and infusion therapy techniques
- Ability to perform venipuncture, IV insertion, catheterization, and sterile processing procedures confidently.
- Excellent patient assessment skills along with experience managing acute pain and complex medication regimens.
- Familiarity with infection control practices and aseptic techniques necessary for safe infusion administration.
- Effective communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards
