Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to support daily operations at our landfill facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience loading and moving trash, maintaining landfill cells, and operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently in an active landfill environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators to load, move, and manage waste materials
- Assist with landfill cell construction, grading, and daily cover placement
- Maintain safe working conditions around trucks, compactors, and other equipment
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational regulations
- Work closely with site supervisors and scale house personnel
- Keep work areas clean and organized
Requirements
- Minimum [2–5] years of excavator experience, preferably in landfill or waste management operations
- Strong knowledge of safe excavation and material handling techniques
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Understanding of landfill safety and environmental regulations
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment
- OSHA training or safety certifications
- CDL (a plus, but not required)
