About the Role:
The Lead Plant Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing or processing plant to ensure efficient, safe, and continuous production. The Lead Plant Operator will lead and mentor a team of operators, providing guidance and support to maintain high standards of quality and productivity. Ultimately, the Lead Plant Operator plays a critical role in achieving production targets while upholding safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant operators and technicians to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
- Monitor plant equipment and processes, identifying and resolving operational issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate plant operators to enhance team performance and professional development.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate operational records and prepare reports on plant performance and incidents.
- Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and quality.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in industrial operations is preferred.
- HAZMAT Endorsement
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of plant equipment, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and process flow diagrams.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in industrial technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in plant operations, safety management, or related disciplines.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and process control software.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience implementing process improvements.
