DESCRIPTION:
- Grading foreman monitors and supervises the excavation phase of a construction project.
- Ensures jobs are completed on schedule and in accordance with the set specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise an assigned work crew performing semi-skilled grade work laborer duties including raking, smoothing and tamping relating to mass and fine grading, as well as pipe laying.
- Supervises grading crews operating earthwork equipment, including operators operating excavators, loaders, dozers and rollers
- Ability to plans and blueprints
- Ability to shoot and check grades
- Receive and prioritize daily work assignments and makes crew work assignments
- Observe work in progress and provides guidance and direction on work procedures and techniques to operators and laborers
- Report jobs completed, providing information on material used, location of work site, heavy equipment used and crew work assignments
- Ensures safe work procedures and safe work practices are followed at work sites
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years at a foreman level in the earthwork, grading, pipe laying field
- Proficiency on Heavy Equipment
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to operate heavy equipment
- A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines
- Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure
