Job Summary:
A General Superintendent of Equipment MMC Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and repair of equipment used in various industries. They supervise a team of technicians and mechanics, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The General Superintendent is also responsible for developing and implementing maintenance programs, managing equipment inventory, and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operations. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Directs all aspects of the daily operation of the Meadows Maintenance Complex (MMC) to ensure the effective maintenance of all rolling stock to fulfill the daily equipment requirements, as well as the physical facility.
- Develops and monitors budgets to ensure a cost-effective operation.
- Acts as liaison to other Rail operating staff, NJ TRANSIT departments and outside agencies with respect to maintenance of equipment issues.
- Identifies maintenance trends/issues, and develops programs and procedures in response.
- Provides leadership with respect to NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations’ Safety Program within all areas of maintenance of equipment responsibility to ensure a safe working environment with a goal of injury elimination.
- Undertakes projects, prepares reports and performs other duties as directed by the DGM Equipment.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications/Knowledge &Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering or related area and ten (10) years of progressive management experience in a transportation maintenance function.
- One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
