About The Team
At Atlantic Health System, we have skilled medical technicians who can collect blood for diagnostic and screening purposes in a family-friendly environment. Laboratories are open any time during regular business hours. COVID-19 testing is available at some Atlantic Health System outpatient laboratories and centers, as well as a sensory room in the Atlantic Health Children’s Specialty Center at Morristown offers a calming space to help make your family’s lab visit a caring and compassionate experience.
Responsible for assisting pathologists in postmortem examinations. Records information for morgue filing and documentation. Releases body to authorized person. Cleans table, trays, and instruments and maintains sanitation. Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures.
Principal Accountabilities
- Prepares bodies, specimens of human organs, and morgue room.
- Places body in compartment tray of refrigerator or on autopsy table, using portable hoist and stretcher.
- Lays out surgical instruments and laboratory supplies for postmortem examinations.
- Sharpens knives, replaces soiled linens, and washes table, storage trays, and instruments.
- Closes post mortem incisions, using surgical needle and cord.
- Fills cranium with plaster and prepares preserving solutions according to formulas.
- Preserves specimens and stain slides and photographs specimens.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in mortuary service or relevant area.
