Job Summary:
Nicklaus Engineering Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Designer to support our engineering and product development teams. This role requires professional judgment and technical expertise to create technical drawings, 3D models, and design specifications using CAD and modeling software, from conceptual design through construction documents. The Engineering Designer collaborates with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes.
This is a permanent, full-time position, exempt position.

Work Schedule:
- This position is expected to fulfill job responsibilities as required to meet project demands. Workdays are typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on project needs.

- Independently develop, modify, and review technical drawings and design specifications to meet project requirements.
- Apply professional judgment to analyze design options, solve complex technical problems, and recommend effective solutions.
- Utilize CAD systems to create new designs, update existing designs, and generate construction documents.
- Convert sketches, written specifications, or technical instructions into accurate digital models and plans.
- Perform site civil design tasks, including stormwater, sanitary sewer, potable water, grading, and mass earthwork calculations.
- Conduct research and analyze reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and topographical or hydrological data to inform design decisions.
- Ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal codes, regulations, and company standards.
- Assist in preparing or updating reports, specifications, preliminary analyses, plans, plat designs, construction schedules, and environmental impact assessments.
- Maintain and develop standards, symbols, and CAD procedures to improve efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Troubleshoot CAD hardware and software issues; provide guidance and basic training to other technical personnel.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and project stakeholders to convey design concepts and project updates.
- Attend meetings and participate in project planning discussions, providing input based on technical expertise.
- Perform other professional duties and responsibilities as required.
Other Functions:
- Support divisional personnel in completing complex tasks and meeting project goals.
- Collect and analyze project data to enhance design accuracy and effectiveness.
- Apply design principles and attention to detail in all assignments.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance technical skills or meet licensure requirements.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software, related modeling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and design codes.
Education and Experience:
- Community College and/or vocational School degree with study in job related area.
- 5 years job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required (entry-level roles may require less experience).
License and Certification Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability.
