Program Manager - Aerospace & Defense

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to join a leading aerospace and defense organization in Austin, TX. This position is responsible for the planning and execution of development and production programs, with accountability for cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, profitability, risks, and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have strong program management experience in an aerospace, defense, engineering, technology, or manufacturing environment and the ability to independently manage complex programs while working closely with cross-functional teams, leadership, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of development and production programs.
- Manage program performance across cost, schedule, quality, technical performance, and profitability.
- Develop and maintain program plans, schedules, budgets, and performance objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage program risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
- Monitor program progress and implement corrective actions when required.
- Track program costs, schedules, milestones, and overall performance.
- Interface directly with customers and internal leadership as required.
- Provide regular program status updates, reporting, and performance analysis.
- Support strategic planning and execution of business objectives.
- Manage multiple projects or workstreams as part of larger programs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers and junior team members.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex program issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in program management or project management.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, engineering, manufacturing, or technology environments strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of program planning, execution, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Experience managing program risks, opportunities, and performance metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal guidance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, manufacturing, finance, and customers.
- Ability to provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to junior team members.
