Telecom OSP Construction Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Supervisor to support aerial, underground, and MDU construction activities across hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) and fiber networks. This role oversees daily field operations, ensures construction quality, verifies safety compliance, and manages contractor performance. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on OSP construction experience, strong organizational skills, and the flexibility to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate aerial and underground construction activities including hardline placement, strand and pole work, joint trench installations, transfers, and safe operation of construction vehicles
• Support HFC maintenance, general plant maintenance, and OSP upgrades
• Conduct pole surveys, pole rideouts, and field verification activities
• Maintain accurate records of project timelines, milestones, production logs, materials, and labor
• Perform site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards; lead or participate in regular safety meetings
• Coordinate daily activities with contractors, specialists, and internal teams
• Generate reports and logs on construction progress, materials, and expenditures
• Review and follow up on customer-related concerns
• Monitor contractor and crew performance to meet project goals and quality expectations
• Work variable schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime as required
• Update job documentation, maps, and verify construction paths for accuracy
• Serve as the primary field interface for contractors and act as a liaison with network operations teams
• Ensure new or upgraded power supplies are installed and fully operational before cutover
• Maintain full responsibility for the quality of the delivered OSP build from construction through handoff to operations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of outside plant construction experience (a background as a lineman is highly valuable)
• Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and MDU OSP construction practices
• Experience with hybrid fiber/coax plant, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Ability to travel regionally as needed, often on short notice
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic computer skills
• Project management experience and strong organizational abilities preferred
• Ability to supervise field teams, set priorities, and ensure high-quality work
• Strong understanding of safety compliance and construction standards
• Strong communication and field leadership skills
