We’re partnering with a rapidly expanding fiber infrastructure provider to hire a Manager of OSP Engineering to lead the design, expansion, and optimization of a large-scale, high-performance fiber network. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys driving strategy alongside execution, and wants real ownership over critical network infrastructure.
This team builds fiber networks that support mission-critical enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and data-intensive environments—and does so with long-term reliability and precision in mind.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Manager of OSP Engineering, you’ll lead a team of engineers and external partners responsible for designing, maintaining, and expanding fiber infrastructure. You’ll balance technical excellence with people leadership, vendor accountability, and cross-functional coordination.
Network Design & Optimization
- Design and approve conduit and fiber routes supporting Dark Fiber, Ethernet, DIA, WDM, SD-WAN, and FTT
- Develop creative routing and diversity solutions leveraging existing network assets
- Research and interpret jurisdictional requirements for construction in public and private ROWs and easements
- Produce and review fiber path outputs, splice plans, BOMs, and route analyses for new builds, relocations, and restorations
- Review and approve construction drawings and designs for complex crossings and specialized installations
- Conduct field investigations to validate routes and identify risks or alternate paths
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet timelines, quality standards, and project requirements
- Drive continuous improvement through best practices, process enhancement, and standardization
- Coach junior staff and peers on industry standards and execution excellence
Data, Systems & Metrics
- Maintain accurate records across internal planning and inventory systems
- Monitor key performance metrics related to delivery timelines, resource utilization, and quality
- Ensure data integrity across GIS and engineering tools
Vendor, Customer & Stakeholder Coordination
- Manage vendor relationships and hold partners accountable to scope, cost, and schedule
- Collaborate closely with construction, operations, sales, and field teams
- Participate in customer-facing discussions and provide regular updates on progress, risks, and forecasts
Operational Support
- Provide real-time technical support for maintenance and network repair activities
- Prioritize and organize work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Support additional initiatives aligned with company growth and infrastructure goals
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience & Skills
- 10 years of fiber network experience, ideally within OSP engineering, design, or construction
- Proven experience leading teams and managing vendors
- Strong background in OSP deployment, construction, and complex fiber projects
- Experience reviewing CAD drawings and documentation for municipal or jurisdictional approval
- Proficiency with GIS-based systems, Google Earth, and managing KMZ files
- Solid understanding of fiber construction practices and standards
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to operate independently and lead through ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field)
- Experience managing budgets, scopes of work, and vendor contracts
- Proficiency in MS Office and Visio
- Experience with Salesforce and AutoCAD is a plus
