Transport Engineer – Richardson, TX / Irving, TX (Hybrid/ Remote)
We are seeking experienced Transport Engineers to support a multi-year network transformation program focused on site decommissioning and transport optimization. This role involves working on ULH and OTN mesh networks to migrate traffic, reduce costs, and modernize infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and build Long Haul (LD) transport networks in collaboration with OEM partners
- Execute circuit grooming for 10G, 100G, and sub-rate circuits
- Lead site decommissioning activities including equipment power-down and removal
- Create and manage Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) for transport builds
- Engineer ULH network changes and support zero-fill and decommission programs
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies (space, power, fiber, diversity)
- Participate in project calls and provide updates on assigned initiatives
Must-Have Skills
- Strong telecommunications industry experience
- Hands-on expertise with Nokia (formerly Infinera) DNA (Digital Network Administrator)
- Experience with LD ULH transport equipment
- Deep knowledge of SONET, OTN mesh, WDM, and long-haul transport networks
- Vendor experience with Nokia, Ciena, Fujitsu, and other long-haul systems
- Familiarity with tools such as BGW, CoFEE (Canvas), Nautilus, ICON, CCP, Venue
- Ability to manage complex processes and drive results independently
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of ODU mapping and SONET to OTN migration
- Knowledge of power systems and battery distribution
- Experience with high-density fiber management (LGX, MPO cabling)
- Familiarity with engineering specs and drawings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
