Location: Newtown, CT
Exciting opportunity to lead the growth of commercial lending for a local, community-focused bank! Newtown Savings Bank is seeking a seasoned Commercial Lender to join a high-performing, collaborative commercial lending team with local decision making at a 170 year-old mutually charted community bank with an excellent reputation in the communities we serve. Ideal candidates have a minimum of 10 years of experience in CRE or C&I lending with previous credit experience and a proven track record of business development and loan production.
Cross-sell all banking products to all commercial clients. This position requires a high level of customer service interaction with large commercial borrowers. The Commercial Loan Officer will be based in Newtown, with territory covering targeted markets in CT.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a base of qualified prospects that will become full-relationship customers of the bank.
- Maintain a calling program on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase and retain existing business.
- Request and review all pertinent credit and financial information.
- Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and be able to discuss with the borrower.
- Perform basic credit analyses of financial information for potential and existing commercial and industrial loans.
- Prepare a loan proposal, present facts reflecting the creditworthiness of a loan and/or borrower.
- Ensure that all commercial loan credit files are kept current with latest financial statements, memos, agency reports, etc.
- Portfolio management which will include monitoring EIP and delinquent accounts, updates on criticized asset reports, memos to the file, risk rating changes and rate reductions.
- Present loan request to appropriate level of authority. Draft and review loan submissions, Letters of Intent, and Commitment letters.
- Coordinate and attend loan closings, working with the client and attorneys, as need be.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree, or 5-7 years of equivalent experience.
- Must have previous credit experience, possess proven business development skills and commercial lending knowledge.
- Strong negotiation skills and a high proficiency in loan structuring are also required.
- This position requires strong community network activities, as well as recognition in the community.
