Role Overview
The Pharma Commercial Data Architect will design, architect, and lead the technical execution of commercial analytics and data platform capabilities for product launches. This role is responsible for unifying key commercial launch datasets including Sales & Prescription data, Longitudinal Claims, Payer/Market Access, and Sales Force/CRM interactions—into a single governed source of truth to power brand launch cockpits, executive decision-making, and field force execution.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Data Architecture and Commercial Analytics
- Specific experience leading data architecture for commercial product launches
- Hands-on experience integrating and modeling IQVIA, LAAD, Veeva CRM, 852/867 EDI feeds, MMIT, Careset, and Payer/Claims datasets
- Experience with cloud data platforms: AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Step Functions, Lambda) and/or Snowflake
- Experience with PySpark, SQL, Apache Iceberg, ETL/ELT frameworks, and REST APIs
- Experience with dimensional modeling (Kimball), Star Schema design, Master Data Management (MDM) , and conformed dimension strategy
- In-depth understanding of US Pharma commercial operations, sales force effectiveness (SFE), formulary tracking, market access, and patient journey analytics
Technical Core & Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Platform Design
- Architect end-to-end cloud data pipelines, semantic layers, and data marts on AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, PySpark, Athena)
- Design conformed dimensional models, star schemas, and reusable semantic layers for brand launch metrics (NRx, TRx, Share of Voice, Persistent Duration)
- Ensure full alignment with enterprise platform standards, data governance, RBAC security, and data quality frameworks
Commercial Dataset Integration & Harmonization
- Ingest, clean, and harmonize key pharmaceutical launch datasets across multiple channels:
- Sales & Prescription Data: IQVIA (Xponent, Plantrak, NPA), 852/867 EDI distributor feeds, SAP sales/invoicing
- Claims & Patient Data: LAAD (Longitudinal Prescription & Claims), medical and pharmacy claims, Careset data
- Payer & Market Access Data: MMIT, formulary coverage, prior authorization (PA) tracking, Gross-to-Net (GTN) analytics
- CRM & Field Interaction Data: Veeva CRM, call activity, HCP engagement metrics, digital marketing/omnichannel feeds
- Master Data: Customer Master (HCP/HCO/Payer) and Product Master MDM integrations
Launch KPI & Decision-Support Framework
- Build phase-aware KPI rule engines tracking launch progression across key operational pillars: Market Readiness, HCP Engagement, Patient Adoption, Access & Formulary, and Persistence & Adherence
- Establish automated data quality validation gates and circuit breakers to ensure source feed integrity before deployment
Cross-Functional Delivery Leadership
- Partner with Commercial Brand Teams, Strategic Analytics, Data Engineering, and IT stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical blueprints
- Guide technical delivery pods across data engineering, semantic modeling, and micro-frontend/BI integration
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Genentech/Roche commercial technology ecosystems (e.g., Polaris, OASIS)
- Familiarity with semantic layer engines (Cube.js) and BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Qlik)
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field
