Location: Smither's Pharmacy
Hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00 A.M. – 5:30 P.M. & Friday 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Occasional Saturdays: 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
Your primary role is to assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications and providing related customer service, all under the pharmacist's supervision.
Daily tasks include measuring and packaging medications, managing inventory, processing insurance claims, and handling customer inquiries. You will also handle administrative duties such as data entry and record keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispensing Medications: Preparing prescription medications by counting, measuring, and packaging them, as well as labeling them accurately.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring medication stock levels, identifying shortages, and ensuring proper storage of medications.
- Customer Service: Interacting with customers to answer basic questions, collect necessary information for prescriptions, and process payments.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintaining patient records, processing insurance claims, and managing data entry.
- Collaboration: Working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and accurate medication dispensing.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current Certified or Registered Pharmacy Technician License with the State of West Virginia.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (e.g., PTCB or NHA) required.
Skills:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pharmacy software(training on our software is done in store) , data entry, and basic mathematical calculations.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is essential for interacting with customers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is first and foremost in medication preparation and record keeping.
- Organizational Skills: Pharmacy technicians need to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

- Physical Stamina: Job does require standing for extended periods and lifting or moving medication supplies.
