The Bank Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and regulatory compliance for the institution. This individual ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements while providing strategic financial insights to executive leadership. The Controller will play a critical role in managing the close process, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement within the accounting function, while supporting the bank’s overall growth and compliance objectives.
Job Requirements
- Oversee preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, and payroll
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and quality assurance processes
- Lead the bank’s budgeting process and support financial planning initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Federal Reserve, FDIC, and other regulatory requirements
- Coordinate internal and external audits and address findings
- Monitor regulatory changes and update policies accordingly
- Maintain adherence to BSA/AML compliance standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a high-performance culture
- Provide financial reporting and insights to executive leadership and committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of accounting or financial management experience within banking
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FDICIA, and regulatory reporting requirements
- CPA preferred; additional banking or compliance certifications are a plus
- Experience with Fiserv Prologue or similar accounting systems preferred
- Understanding of ALCO processes is a plus
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
