Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Position Summary
Nevell Group is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager with construction knowledge and a passion for project execution and coordination. In this role, you will support Project Managers and Project Executives in managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers and field teams in day-to-day project coordination and execution.
Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, drawings, and closeout materials. - Assist in contract review and ensure compliance with all project requirements and obligations.
Support procurement activities including subcontractor and material coordination, tracking, and delivery follow-up. - Monitor project budgets, labor production, job costs, and schedules; prepare regular status and forecast reports.
- Maintain jobsite communication between field teams, management, clients, architects, and subcontractors.
- Assist in developing and maintaining job procedures, document control systems, and project workflows.
- Support quality control efforts through field reporting, inspections, and documentation.
Coordinate safety documentation with the Safety Manager, including AHA’s, IIPP’s, safety manuals, and QA/QC programs. - Track and document project events such as delays, impacts, and change orders.
Assist with estimating support, including takeoffs, budget development, and value engineering efforts. - Participate in project meetings, including kickoff meetings, coordination meetings, and subcontractor meetings.
- Support scheduling activities including manpower tracking, production monitoring, and progress updates.
- Coordinate with field operations and BIM teams to support project planning, logistics, and execution.
- Conduct regular jobsite walks with field leadership to review progress, safety, and production constraints.
- Assist in monthly billing, schedule of values preparation, and cash flow tracking.
- Support project closeout activities and warranty follow-up.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred OR 2–4 years of equivalent experience in commercial construction, preferably in drywall, framing, or wall systems.
2. Strong understanding of construction processes, means, methods, and sequencing.
3. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
4. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software; accounting software experience is a plus.
7. Strong attention to detail with the ability to track and manage complex project information.
