Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking a dependable and motivated Structured Cabling Technician to support the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems. This role works closely with project managers and field teams to complete projects safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Learn to identify material types and understand proper applications
- Assist with basic cable installation and begin developing termination skills
- Identify tools and demonstrate proper usage
- Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
- Perform cable routing, pulling, and dressing in commercial environments
- Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, and ladder rack
- Install and terminate patch panels, racks, cabinets, and faceplates
- Conduct cable testing and certification using Fluke or similar testing equipment
- Perform housekeeping duties as required to maintain clean and organized job sites
- Assist with material loading and off-loading
- Meet NCS quality standards on all projects
- Drive on company business and assume responsibility for a company vehicle as needed and permitted
- Represent NCS with professionalism and integrity at all times
- Perform all assigned duties safely while adhering to the highest quality standards
- Provide a high level of customer service with clear and consistent communication, both verbal and written
- Perform all essential job functions and other duties as assigned
Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1–3 years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience preferred
- Knowledge of copper and fiber installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel as required
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts
- Willingness to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screen
