Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Windows Server System Administrator to join our IT team. This role is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our critical on-premises and cloud-based Windows server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the stable, secure, and efficient operation of our enterprise environment, playing a key role in system design, implementation, and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022/2025) on physical and virtual platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
- Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and other critical Windows services such as file and print services.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime.
- Manage patch management system such as Windows Server Update Services.
- Perform regular system monitoring, security patching, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance and protection against threats and in accordance with company policies.
- Develop and maintain scripts, primarily using PowerShell, to automate routine administration tasks, reporting, and configuration management.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery testing. Participate in developing and executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Collaborate with network and security teams to ensure compliance and integration.
- Support and administer Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure AD, virtual machines, networking) and manage hybrid cloud environments.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all server configurations, processes, procedures and changes.
- Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support, quickly diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and performance issues to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Windows Server Administrator or similar role.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Expertise in Active Directory (design, user/group management, GPO implementation).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware or Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security best practices.
- Knowledge of patch management systems (e.g., WSUS, SCCM)
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) is a plus.
- Experience in endpoint management tools (Intune, SCCM, MDT, Jamf, Mosyle) is a plus.
- Experience with Linux administration is a plus.
Work Conditions
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance and updates.
- Ability to support multiple district locations.
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
