Title: HVAC Systems Engineer
Duration: 8 Months Contract
Location: Andover, MA 01810
Shift: Day Shift (Standard Business Hours)
Position Summary
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for commercial and industrial HVAC systems within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment
- Support design, operation, and continuous improvement of critical utility systems ensuring system reliability, compliance, and energy efficiency
- Lead troubleshooting, system optimization, and long-term reliability improvements for HVAC infrastructure
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Facilities, Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, Quality, Validation, and EHS teams
Responsibilities
HVAC Systems Engineering & Operations:
- Provide engineering oversight for critical HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, exhaust systems, and associated building automation systems
- Lead system troubleshooting, performance optimization, and long term reliability improvements
- Support system redesigns and upgrades to meet evolving production and compliance needs
Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure HVAC systems operate in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, internal SOPs, and applicable environmental and safety regulations
- Support inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions by providing technical documentation and subject matter expertise
- Partner with Quality and Validation teams to support system qualification, change control, and deviation investigations
Reliability & Maintenance:
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment and system failures
- Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Perform condition assessments to proactively identify reliability risks and recommend corrective actions
Project & Stakeholder Management:
- Provide technical leadership for capital projects, system upgrades, and facility expansions
- Review engineering designs, commissioning plans, and vendor submittals
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure projects meet performance and compliance expectations
- Support operations with timely troubleshooting, technical guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
Experience:
- Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotech, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting HVAC systems in GMP-compliant facilities
- Experience with system qualification, validation, and regulatory inspections
Skills:
- Strong expertise in HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, exhaust systems, and building automation systems
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, SOPs, environmental health and safety regulations
- Root cause analysis and reliability focused methodologies
- Preventive and predictive maintenance strategy development
- Ability to review engineering designs, commissioning plans, and vendor documentation
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills
