Title: Chemist II
Duration: 12 months contract
Location: West Point, PA / North Wales, PA
Shift: Standard Business Hours
Position Summary
• Support analytical techniques within vaccine process development and GMP laboratories.
• Perform chromatography-based assays and biochemical analysis for therapeutic proteins.
• Execute laboratory activities including sample preparation, data analysis, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP/cGLP standards and maintain inspection-ready laboratory conditions.
Responsibilities
• Conduct analytical testing including chemical labeling of biological samples, HPLC separation, potency (ELISA) and data analysis.
• Prepare buffers and solutions, aliquot materials, pack columns, and set up systems.
• Perform sterilization, sampling, cleaning, and equipment setup.
• Document laboratory activities electronically and enter process data into databases.
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and perform minor repairs.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, inspection-ready, and safe work environment following laboratory safety practices.
• Perform multiple separation and biochemical analysis methods including capillary electrophoresis and two-dimensional separation techniques.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a closely related field
Experience:
• 3 years hands-on experience within the pharmaceutical / medical technology industry
• One to two years of hands-on wet laboratory experience
• Experience analyzing therapeutic proteins using UPLC and HPLC techniques including IEX, SEC, HIC, and RP
• Experience with chromatography techniques
• Prior experience with cGMP or cGLP practices preferred
Skills:
• Knowledge and experience utilizing Empower
• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities with attention to detail
• Ability to author internal technical reports
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with cross-functional collaboration capability
• Willingness and capability to learn new techniques and follow SOPs
Software & Tools:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with electronic lab notebooks preferred
