Ward County Human Service Zone is Hiring an Eligibility Lead Worker in Minot, North Dakota

This position is eligible for remote/telework and required to report to the Minot office a minimum of one day per month.

Ward County Human Service Zone is seeking an Eligibility Lead Worker for the Economic Assistance team through administrative, programmatic, and client support.

The function of this position is to provide training and support to team members and review accuracy of cases. This position will also determine eligibility and on-going benefits which may include working with multiple economic assistance programs. This position will interpret and apply complex state and federal policies.

This position works with Economic Assistance programs including Health Care Coverage, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low-Income Energy Assistance, and Child Care Assistance.

Program training is provided for this position.

Eligibility Lead Worker example of duties:

  • Provide initial and ongoing training
  • Onboarding of new employees
  • Answer policy and system questions
  • Coach and consult on complex issues
  • Review work for timeliness and accuracy
  • Provide customer support in-person and in a call-center environment
  • Fielding client communications to include phone calls, emails, and mail
  • Preparing general correspondence
  • Establish electronic records
  • Assembling and distributing program information, applications, forms, reports, and other materials to clients
  • Review, input, and retrieve data from various databases and computer systems
  • Attend training and workshops
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the laws, rules, policies, procedures, and regulations

To succeed in this position, you need strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt in a dynamic, diverse environment. You will need to have a strong understanding of complex program policies and procedures. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications, with a willingness to learn new technology programs.

To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of work experience involving duties directly related to determining eligibility for human services economic assistance programs. Plus, it requires one of the following:

  • Completion of the eligibility worker one-year certificate program.
  • Completion of 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours of a bachelor's degree program.
  • Three years of work experience involving processing of claims, loans, financial eligibility benefits, credit reviews, abstracts, taxes, or housing assistance, or working in the clerical, accounting, bookkeeping, legal, financial, business, teaching, investments/financial planning, or computer/data processing fields.
  • Three years of any combination of education and experience listed above.
