Nauticus is a maritime discovery center offering a unique form of experiential learning for all ages. Through interactive exhibits and STEM to STERN programming, Nauticus uses the museum, Battleship Wisconsin, sailing center, and Schooner Virginia to tell the story of the maritime environment, industry, and the military.
Battleship Crew Members deliver exemplary customer service while providing information about the USS Wisconsin. Crew Members will perform various types of guided tours throughout the Battleship and will rotate inside Nauticus interpreting and offering insight to pertaining exhibits.
Department Hiring Hourly Wage: $16.00
Essential Functions
Department Hiring Rate: 15.75/hourly
Essential Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and considerable experience working in a museum or visitor attraction environment.
The preferred candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Science, History, Museum Studies, or a related degree.
In addition, the preferred candidates will have the ability to:
Work hours: Year-round position working Weekdays, Weekends and some holidays, with a varied schedule 20 hours per week. Battleship hours are 9a to 5pm.
Work location: 1 Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

- Offers guest guided tours and information about the USS Wisconsin and Nauticus.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively join peers and volunteers in a team environment with the ability to make strong decisions in a fast-paced guest centered environment.
- Maintains quality guest experience along with safety in the assigned work area.
- May be required to be Lead of a shift as necessary.
- Carries out emergency action plans.
- Supports ship-shape readiness for guest.
- Works in a team environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Navigate in small spaces in various weather conditions.

- The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education.
