Responsibilities: Advise on military, defense and government procurements and sourcing contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable government regulations and contract law Draft, review and negotiate purchase/sales and other government and commercial agreements, with focus on military and defense related procurements Conduct legal research on regulatory requirements, government contracts and subcontracts Identify legal/compliance issues that may impact company activities Provide training to business groups on GSA, DFARS, and ITAR Develop and implement risk mitigation and compliance framework for the military and defense group Requirements: J.D. from an accredited law school Admitted to the bar and in good standing in Texas or admitted to the bar and in good standing in another state and eligible for licensure as in-house counsel in Texas Qualifications: Working knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, ITAR, DoD and US export compliance requirements Excellent verbal, written communication and comprehension skills Ability to interact with multiple levels in an organization and in multiple jurisdictions Ability to work effectively with global legal and compliance teams, with an international mind-set Ability to work and deliver results accurately in a fast-paced environment Smith is an equal opportunity employer #LI-AK1 If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
