Position Summary
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher for Grades 1–6 to inspire students through engaging, content-rich instruction. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in history, a passion for education, and a commitment to fostering academic excellence in a structured, high-expectation environment.
This position plays a vital role in developing students' historical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and appreciation for world and American history while working collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement.
Essential Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned History instruction to students in Grades 1–6.
Develop and implement lessons that promote historical understanding, critical thinking, and meaningful student engagement.
Design and administer assessments to measure student progress and inform instructional decisions.
Analyze student performance data and use findings to drive continuous improvement and differentiation.
Maintain a structured, orderly classroom environment with clear academic and behavioral expectations.
Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, personal responsibility, and academic achievement.
Collaborate with grade-level and department colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and instructional consistency.
Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and fellow staff members.
Participate in a comprehensive summer orientation program and ongoing professional development throughout the school year.
Support the mission, values, and educational philosophy of Mystic Valley Regional Charter School.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; History, Education, or a closely related field preferred.
Demonstrated passion for History and the ability to make historical content engaging and accessible to young learners.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to data-driven instruction and continuous professional growth.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team-oriented school culture.
Willingness to embrace a structured educational environment with high expectations for student achievement.
Massachusetts teaching licensure is preferred but not required.
